Assemblymember Phil Ting, Supervisor Connie Chan and Community Leaders Announce 8th Annual Richmond Autumn Moon Festival

AMTV, SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 24 – Today, Assemblymember Phil Ting, District 1 Supervisor Connie Chan and community members invite the community to come to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and announce details of the 2024 Richmond District Autumn Moon Festival.
Each Autumn in Chinese culture, during the full moon, the Mid-Autumn Moon festival is celebrated by gathering with family, celebrating the harvest, sharing mooncake, and lighting lanterns. This Richmond District Autumn Moon Festival began in 2017, started by then Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer and Assemblymember Phil Ting. The festival is a collaboration with local Richmond community benefit partners, including the Community Youth Center, The Richmond Neighborhood Center, and the Clement Street Merchants Association.
“It’s hard to believe eight years have passed since we envisioned our own Autumn Moon
Festival. This event has grown into a great community celebration that gives residents and
visitors the opportunity to embrace the rich history and traditions of Chinese culture, while
connecting with local organizations and small businesses,” said Assemblymember Phil Ting
(D-San Francisco). “Since this is my last year co-hostingas an Assemblymember, I hope
everyone can drop by and make this gathering the best one yet!”
“I am excited to share my favorite holiday, Autumn Moon, with the Richmond community,
” said Supervisor Connie Chan. “During the Mid-Autumn Moonfestival we gather, celebrate
community, give thanks for our “harvest”, and share our abundance and of course, mooncake! It is a time to celebrate all that makes the Richmond District special, our community partners, small business, and our artists. I hope to see you all on Clement!”
The festival has expanded to four-blocks and will feature over 100 local vendors, artisans,
community organizations, and city resources. This year the festival will also celebrate the Year of the Dragon, complete with a traditional dragon boat to check out, and a kid’s dragon costume contest.

Director of CYC. “This year, we invite everyone toenjoy delicious food from local vendors,
shop unique finds from boutique stores and crafts makers, and explore the valuable resources
available from local nonprofits. With arts and crafts activities for kids and captivating cultural entertainment, there is something for everyone to enjoy as we honor our shared heritage and build connections within our community.”
