Chinese-American Student Eirene Hope Liu Celebrates 14th Birthday with a Pledge to Aim Higher and Serve Society

AMTV, New York, April 21 — On April 21, Earth Day, Eirene Hope Liu, an 8th-grade Chinese-American student at Jericho Junior High School in New York, celebrated her 14th birthday surrounded by family, friends, and classmates. Among the guests were friends of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities, who gathered joyfully to share their heartfelt birthday wishes with Eirene.

The celebration began with a welcome speech from Eirene’s father, Mr. Frank Liu, who thanked all the guests and invited them for a group photo outdoors. Eirene then expressed her gratitude to her parents, teachers, and friends for their support and presence. The festivities continued on the lawn, where everyone joined in singing “Happy Birthday,” shared cake, and later enjoyed lunch indoors while chatting about academics, dreams, and dancing to popular music.

Since entering junior high, Eirene has consistently maintained an academic performance of A- or higher. Alongside her studies, she actively pursues a wide range of artistic interests, including visual arts and Latin dance, and has received numerous awards in international competitions.

Dance, for Eirene, is more than a passion—it is a discipline that sharpens her willpower and celebrates the rhythm of youth. She was a multiple first-prize winner in U.S. Latin dance competitions in 2022 and 2024. In visual arts, her accolades include First Prize and a Special Award at the Long Island Middle School Art Exhibition, the Creative Excellence Award from the U.S. division of UNICEF’s International Environmental Art Exhibition, and the Outstanding Work Award from the United Nations Biodiversity Painting Competition. She also earned the Gold Medal at the Louvre Art Exhibition in conjunction with the Paris Olympic celebrations.

Her artwork has been showcased in the U.S. Children’s Art Online Exhibition, where she received First Prize. In 2023, she was awarded “Best On-Camera Presence” in the New York Story Film Young Actors Competition, presented by renowned actress Wang Ji. Due to her exceptional artistic talent, Eirene was recently accepted as a private apprentice by renowned oil painter Li Tongxin.

Inspired by her parents and elders who are deeply involved in charitable work, Eirene has long participated in community service. She has volunteered in initiatives organized by New York City Mayor Eric Adams, earning recognition for outstanding volunteer service. She has also organized fellow students to participate in forums at the United Nations General Assembly and the Women’s Conference, demonstrating strong leadership skills.

For Eirene, public service is a calling, and social harmony is a lifelong ideal. Her dedication to philanthropy has garnered recognition at both national and international levels. In January 2024, she received the Distinguished Volunteer Award from U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu. In early 2025, she was honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award in recognition of her long-standing commitment to serving the community and engaging with global platforms such as the United Nations and congressional media forums.

She also actively engages in international initiatives to promote peace. Most recently, she designed a birthday card on behalf of the World Harmony Foundation for the King of Indonesia, earning praise and appreciation from the monarch.

During her birthday celebration, Eirene made a heartfelt wish—to continue striving for academic and artistic excellence, and to pioneer innovations at the intersection of art, fashion, and artificial intelligence. She expressed her aspiration to use her talents to better serve society and expand her positive impact on the world.
