O’FARRELL, COMMUNITY PARTNERS BREAK GROUND ON MAJOR LIVABILITY PROJECT IN EAST HOLLYWOOD

EAST HOLLYWOOD, CA, Sept 29 – Los Angeles City Council President Pro Tempore Mitch O’Farrell today joined community partners and representatives from the Bureau of Street Services (StreetsLA), LANI (Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative), and KYCC (Koreatown Youth + Community Center) to break ground on a major project that will beautify and improve mobility and livability on Santa Monica Boulevard between Western Avenue and Hoover Avenue, one of the busiest corridors in Los Angeles.

Last month, O’Farrell transferred $387,000 to fully fund the project, the vision for which was developed several years ago by LANI. The project includes the planting and maintenance of 69 new trees, new bus shelters, new bus pads, pedestrian-scale lighting, and high-visibility crosswalks. Construction is expected to be completed in summer 2023.
