SAN BERNARDINO PROPERTY TAX PAYMENT SCAM ALERT

AMTV/San Bernardino, CA, Feb 28 – San Bernardino County Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector Ensen Mason warns taxpayers to beware of fraudulent telephone calls and emails soliciting property tax payments using false payment information with the threat that if payment is not made, the property owner’s home will be sold in the upcoming tax sale.

The Tax Collector Division does not initiate unsolicited phone calls or emails requesting payment for secured property taxes. Taxpayers who wish to receive their tax bills electronically must enroll online and provide their authorization.

“Taxpayers need to stay vigilant when providing personal and financial information over the phone or by email,” cautioned Mason. “Anyone receiving a phone call or email requesting property tax payment with the threat their property will be sold should immediately contact our office and report the incident.”

Taxpayers can pay their property taxes securely online at www.mytaxcollector.com, by phone at (909) 387-8308, in person, or by mail to the Tax Collector’s Office at 268 West Hospitality Lane, First Floor, San Bernardino, CA 92415-0360.
